Emperor Palpatine's cane

The walking stick of Emperor Palpatine, as the title implies, served as an assistive device for walking employed by Sheev Palpatine while he was the ruler of the Galactic Empire, even though he didn't actually need it to walk. Featuring a shiny black coating, the cane was twisted and knotty in its design. The Emperor carried this cane with him when he traveled to the second Death Star in 4 ABY with the intention of drawing the Alliance Fleet into an ambush. But soon after this event, the Death Star met its end during the Battle of Endor.

Behind the scenes

The Emperor's cane made its debut in the 1983 movie Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, which was the concluding chapter of the Star Wars original trilogy. As stated in the reference book From Star Wars to Indiana Jones: The Best of the Lucasfilm Archives, the original prop’s dimensions were 20×94×3 centimeters.
