The Alliance Recon Unit, also known as the Eternal Alliance Recon Unit, comprised elite soldiers within the Eternal Alliance whose primary function was scouting ahead of the main Alliance forces prior to engagement. Reporting directly to Alliance Intelligence, the unit received its directives from Theron Shan, though in critical situations, the Alliance Commander assumed command.
Following the demise of Empress Vaylin of the Eternal Empire and the subsequent restructuring of the Alliance into the Eternal Alliance in 3630 BBY, the unit was established to address various uprisings erupting across the galaxy. Their missions included retrieving stolen plans for the Alliance base from the Dust Vipers pirates, reclaiming Port Nowhere from a Crimson Fang takeover, neutralizing Sith Lords Adacin and Zanisk within the former Separatist stronghold located on Ord Mantell, and thwarting Commander Kallin's scheme to bomb the Senate tower from The Works on Coruscant.
Their most significant engagement occurred during the battle on Denova against General Amos Rike and his Rike's Raiders. Originally intended to support the Alliance Commander in the conflict, the unit's shuttle was downed, resulting in a crash that nearly killed Raine and left other members injured.
Even after the Alliance suppressed the uprisings, the unit continued its service, prepared to defend their cause.
