Everen Ettene held the rank of Jedi Master within the Jedi Order during the time of the Separatist Crisis. Halagad Ventor was her Padawan; however, only Ventor survived the diplomatic mission to resolve the Virgillian Civil War.
As was typical for Jedi of her time, Everen Ettene's training within the Jedi Order commenced in her infancy. She studied at the Jedi Temple situated on Coruscant, and ultimately, she successfully completed the Jedi Trials, leading to her knighting by the Jedi High Council. Ettene was part of a delegation of Jedi Knights dispatched to the planet of Alderaan. Under the leadership of Jedi Master Jorus C'baoth, the Jedi were tasked with mediating the Alderaan Ascendancy Contention between House Organa and House Antilles. Her dedication to expanding her understanding of the Force and honing her lightsaber skills resulted in her promotion to the rank of Master. Years passed after her initial encounter with Bail Organa, and Ettene eventually agreed to discuss the possibility of accepting Organa's close friend, Halagad Ventor, as her Padawan. Ventor had been training at the experimental Jedi academy on Almas since he was seventeen, but every Master he approached had declined to take him as an apprentice. While other Masters cited his age and lack of mental discipline as reasons for refusal, Ettene found herself drawn to the challenge presented by the teenager, who reminded her of her younger self, and she decided to accept him as her Padawan.

As his mentor, Ettene balanced compassion with discipline, guiding the young Jedi to control his impulsive nature. She nurtured him with a motherly care, fostering a deep connection that facilitated Ventor's growth in the Force. Following the failure of the Outbound Flight Project, the Galactic Senate dispatched Ettene and her apprentice to investigate the circumstances surrounding the disaster. During the investigation, they questioned Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker regarding their involvement. Despite the initial tension of their meeting, Ventor and Skywalker developed a friendship sometime after the investigation concluded. In 23 BBY, the High Council assigned Ettene to mediate the Virgillian Civil War between the Virgillian Free Alignment and the Aristocracy. The diplomatic envoy consisted of two Master-Padawan pairs: Ludwin Katarkus and Danyawarra, as well as Master Ettene and Padawan Ventor. Upon arrival, the shuttle transporting the Jedi envoy was attacked and destroyed. After three weeks without communication, the team was declared lost on 13:2:28 GrS, and a memorial service was announced at the Jedi Temple for the following day.
Despite the official reports of their demise, Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan refused to abandon hope for his friend Ventor. Following the start of the Clone Wars on Geonosis, Organa, accompanied by his close associate Giles Durane and Jedi Master Ashka Boda, journeyed to Virgillia in search of the missing Master-Padawan team. While Ettene and Katarkus did not survive to be rescued, both Padawans, Danywarra and Ventor, were rescued from the planet and went on to serve as commanders within the Grand Army of the Republic.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi Knight and colleague, described Everen Ettene as stubborn. She recognized aspects of herself in the headstrong and proud Halagad Ventor. Upon accepting him as her apprentice, she developed a deep affection for him, treating him as a son, and dedicated herself to tempering his ego and shaping him into a formidable Jedi.
