The role of a familiar encompassed further responsibilities and implications that remained undisclosed. The bond between familiars and their masters persisted until the death of one of them.

Vergere acted as a familiar to both Falung and Elan, and her connection to the two priestesses manifested as a type of guidance. Furthermore, Onimi held the position of familiar to the Supreme Overlord Shimrra. Despite Onimi's exploitation of this role to manipulate Shimrra, their interactions in the public eye were characterized by physical violence, with Onimi behaving more like a court fool than a helpful assistant.
