Elan

Elan held the position of Priestess within the Yuuzhan Vong society. She was strikingly beautiful by Yuuzhan Vong standards, possessing ice-blue eyes and intricate lavender and maroon patterns adorning her face, and still quite young when the invasion began.

Biography

Priestess Elan

As the youngest daughter of High Priest Jakan, Elan belonged to the Deception sect, a group of followers dedicated to Yun-Harla. Following the Yuuzhan Vong's triumph at Obroa-skai, Harrar and Nom Anor tasked Elan with a clandestine operation: to infiltrate the New Republic and assassinate as many Jedi as possible.

Elan witnessed a demonstration of the bo'tous bioweapon, a blood-borne agent carried within the lungs of an assassin. During the demonstration, an apprentice assassin used the bioweapon to eliminate several captives before succumbing to its effects himself. Driven by the desire to bring honor to herself and her domain, Elan accepted the assignment. She and her familiar, Vergere, would feign defection, seeking political asylum, request a meeting with the Jedi, and then Elan would release the bioweapon. Elan even entertained the notion that her actions might lead to her father's elevation to the position of Mosthigh priest.

The Yuuzhan Vong orchestrated a minor defeat near Exodo II, during which Elan and Vergere ejected from a vessel in a small escape pod. Subsequently, they were apprehended by the light cruiser Soothfast, where they requested political asylum.

The supposed defectors were then moved to Bagsho on Nim Drovis, where they were taken into the custody of Major Showolter from New Republic Intelligence. Despite Showolter's strong suspicion that their defection was a deception, they were nonetheless transported to Wayland for debriefing by NRI operatives. Elan managed to communicate their destination to Harrar using a villip.

While on Wayland, Elan underwent questioning by Belindi Kalenda, Joi Eicroth, and Doctor Yintal. Elan asserted that her sect's close collaboration with the warrior caste, involving reading auguries and advising on tactical decisions, would enable her to provide the New Republic with valuable intelligence. However, the interrogation was interrupted when a Yuuzhan Vong assassin stormed the safehouse, attempting to eliminate Elan before being shot down by Major Showolter. Elan sustained only minor injuries, and Vergere subsequently utilized her tears to aid in healing her wounds.

The assassination attempt served to bolster their credibility, leading to Elan and Vergere's transfer to Myrkr with the ultimate goal of bringing them to Coruscant. Showolter arranged for their transport to Bilbringi aboard the Queen of Empire, disguised as refugees, and assisted her in passing as Human.

Regrettably, the Peace Brigade, mercenaries in the employ of the Yuuzhan Vong who were unaware of Elan's true mission, discovered their defection and devised a scheme to retrieve them before their ship reached Bilbringi. They launched an attack on the Queen of Empire, during which Showolter was injured. He was compelled to entrust Elan and Vergere to the care of Han Solo, imploring him to assist in concealing them.

Elan

Elan was captured by the Peace Brigade, aided by a Yuuzhan Vong unmasker handler. She was taken aboard their shuttle, with the intention of returning her to a nearby Yuuzhan Vong vessel. Desperate to prevent the failure of her mission, Elan deployed the bo'tous, killing everyone on board the shuttle, while she and Vergere sought refuge in a rear cabin. Han boarded the shuttle to discover that everyone except the two of them was dead. Elan suggested that the Peace Brigade must have accidentally released the bioweapon themselves. Han grew increasingly suspicious as they escaped in the Millennium Falcon, and decided to place them in an escape pod and return them to their own people. Realizing her deception had been uncovered, Elan attempted to use the bo'tous on him, but inadvertently became trapped in the escape pod with him. Han survived thanks to a portable breathing apparatus given to him by his youngest son, Anakin Solo, and Elan herself succumbed to the toxin.

Following her demise, Nom Anor attributed the mission's failure to Elan and Harrar's lack of adaptability.
