To accomplish this, an assassin who received training from Domain Shai was sent to the planet of Wayland with the mission to assassinate Elan. Although New Republic forces successfully prevented the assassination, Yintal, an analyst from New Republic Fleet Intelligence, died during the conflict. This event reinforced the belief that Elan was a genuine defector possessing significant intelligence.
