Peace Brigade

The Peace Brigade represented a political movement and a paramilitary organization in opposition to the New Republic. They engaged in collaboration with the Yuuzhan Vong throughout the duration of their invasion. Their chosen emblem featured the image of a Human hand intertwined with a Yuuzhan Vong hand, symbolizing equality. The irony lay in the fact that, within the Yuuzhan Vong language, the terms for peace and submission were semantically indistinguishable.

History

This Peace Brigade came into existence because certain beings felt the New Republic was exhibiting indifference, and subsequently, they perceived the New Republic's response to the Yuuzhan Vong invasion as inadequate. They operated under the assumption that the Yuuzhan Vong would inevitably emerge victorious in the war. Therefore, the Peace Brigade decided it would be advantageous to align themselves with the Yuuzhan Vong against the Jedi. However, as they disrupted planetary governments, apprehended high-ranking officials, and handed over Jedi prisoners to the invading forces, the Brigade was, in effect, sealing its own doom, because the Yuuzhan Vong would have little to no need for them after the war concluded. However, as the Brigade's membership swelled and extended beyond the control of its loose organizational structure, it became apparent that they needed a more defined and rigid command structure to continue operating as a unified entity.

Following its conquest by the Yuuzhan Vong, the planet Metalorn became a site for Peace Brigade recruitment.

After the Yuuzhan Vong ousted the Hutts from their former Space, Ylesia was ceded to the Brigade to serve as their main headquarters, transforming it into the de facto armed forces of the newly formed Ylesian Republic. The organizational structure was straightforward: a central headquarters overseeing smaller, independent cells that operated covertly throughout the galaxy. Functionally, the Brigade represented an ideological synthesis of the Bothan Spynet and Black Sun, employing both guerrilla warfare and political machinations. Although the Brigade possessed its own fleet, its most potent weapon remained the subtle manipulation of galactic politics, furthering the objectives of their supposed allies, the Yuuzhan Vong.

In the latter stages of the war, the Yuuzhan Vong empire utilized the Peace Brigade and various mercenary groups as auxiliary forces to guard their conquered territories and defend their rear lines against New Republic incursions.

When Thrackan Sal-Solo resurfaced, the Yuuzhan Vong compelled him to assume the role of Commander-in-Chief of Ylesia, promising not to attack Sal-Solo's homeworld, Corellia. When Ylesia itself was assailed by a joint task force comprising the New Republic and Bothan Fleets, the Brigade's command and control capabilities were once again severely impaired. Another blow was dealt when Sal-Solo was captured during the battle. However, much like Black Sun and similar clandestine organizations, the Brigade would soon re-emerge, revitalized and reinvigorated, with new leadership to continue their struggle.

By then, however, the galaxy as a whole had come to the realization that the Yuuzhan Vong had broken their promises of mercy far too many times to be trusted again. Ironically, in the final stages of the conflict, the Yuuzhan Vong began to use Peace Brigadiers as slave labor; however, the majority of the Peace Brigade remained loyal to the Yuuzhan Vong. Peace Brigaders were used as guards at the Caluula spaceport during the final year of the war, and they were subsequently arrested by Galactic Alliance forces. Following the Battle of Yuuzhan'tar, leading members of the Peace Brigade were put on trial for both treason and war crimes.
