The unabridged audio rendition of the Legends novel of the same title, authored by Aaron Allston, is entitled Fate of the Jedi: Backlash. Marc Thompson lent his voice to the audiobook, which was launched by Random House Audio on March 9, 2010. It came in two formats: a digital audiobook and a physical collection of eight compact discs. Kevin Thomsen directed the project, while Dan Zitt served as the executive producer.
The dark side's devastating temptation of Jacen Solo, coupled with the perplexing epidemic of insanity plaguing young Jedi, continues to cause widespread devastation across the galaxy. After barely escaping the fanatical Force adherents known as the Mind Walkers, along with a lethal Sith assassination team, Luke and Ben Skywalker are now hunting the Sith apprentice who is now without a master. This pursuit takes them to the ominous planet Dathomir, where a community of formidable dark-side Force wielders will provide Vestara with the advantage she requires to escape. It's also a place where the Skywalkers will be compelled to fight for both their lives and their target.
In a parallel narrative, Han and Leia Solo have concluded their own perilous undertaking, transporting Jedi afflicted by madness from Coruscant to a secure haven within the Transitory Mists, thus evading the reach of Galactic Alliance Chief of State Natasi Daala. However, this audacious action has intensified Daala's anger, and she is resolved to crush the Jedi Order's resistance once and for all.
Yet, the most significant danger remains lurking in the depths of the remote Maw Cluster. A being composed of pure, insatiable dark-side energy, known as Abeloth, is beckoning to both Jedi and Sith across the vastness of space. For some, she might represent the ultimate source of answers vital for their survival. For others, she could be the definitive instrument of conquest. However, for everyone involved, it signifies a transformative and life-altering encounter of immense proportions, as well as a strategic maneuver with consequences beyond comprehension.
