In 5 BBY, a resistance movement arose on the planet Ferrix, a direct result of the Galactic Empire's occupation, which had been a source of great discontent for the sons and Daughters of Ferrix. Following the death of Maarva Carassi Andor, a massive funeral procession took place, defying Imperial orders, and featured a hologram speech recorded by Andor before her passing, urging her fellow Ferrixians to stand up to the Empire. Galvanized by her message, and further provoked by Imperial captain Vanis Tigo's disrespectful treatment of Andor's droid, B2EMO, who he discarded for broadcasting her speech, the citizens of Ferrix attacked the Imperial forces, thereby establishing a formal resistance. The Empire responded with overwhelming force, suppressing the uprising, resulting in numerous fatalities and the displacement of many Ferrix residents.
