Filin was a male human felon; he collaborated with his elder brother, Karrst. Because of the numerous murders they perpetrated, and Karrst's sensitivity to the Force, the Knights of Ren, a dark side group headed by someone called Ren, tried to enlist Karrst. To demonstrate Karrst's value, Ren demanded he murder his brother. Instead, Filin murdered Karrst, trying to take his place. Since Filin lacked Force-sensitivity, Ren eliminated him.
