These lethal war creatures featured adaptable proboscises that emitted jets of gelatinous fire, pores that released anti-laser aerosols, and hides sufficiently robust to endure almost any attack short of a turbolaser blast.
The fiery liquid was a product of a distinctive chemical process involving the combination of methane, hydrogen sulfide, and an enigmatic material located far inside the Fire Breather's digestive system. These creatures were frequently used to eliminate fortified enemy locations.
A scaled-down anti-personnel variant was also in existence.
The initial sightings of Fire Breathers occurred on Gyndine, where they incinerated forests and brought lakes to a boil. Based on numerous accounts, the Fire Breathers obtained swamp gas from the planet Mimban in the Circarpous system before their invasion of Gyndine. Fire Breathers were also present during an invasion of Artorias.
Later in the conflict, a division of B2 super battle droids called the Orange Panthacs successfully repelled the Fire Breathers during the Battle of Mantessa.
