During the time of the Galactic War in 3640 BBY, when the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire were in conflict, Darth Gravus, a Sith Lord, was given command of a fleet orbiting Leritor, a planet abundant in minerals, subsequent to his successful conquest of the planet Taris. Nevertheless, the sudden arrival of a Republic fleet led to the defeat of the Sith vessels, resulting in the Republic's capture of the planet and compelling Gravus to temporarily withdraw, which diminished his standing with the Dark Council. Subsequently, a second battle took place at this location, during which the Empire managed to retake control of the planet, but also witnessed the demise of Darth Gravus, who was killed by another Sith Lord, namely Darth Karrid.
