Flax, a planet with significant tectonic activity, existed within the Ptera system found in the Sumitra sector of the Expansion Region. This planet was primarily desert-covered due to tall coastal mountains obstructing moisture transport from the seas via the atmosphere.
The Flakax, an indigenous insectoid species, resided in subterranean hive structures on Flax. Following the death of their King, Alaric, Flax, along with the rest of the sector, seceded from the Republic and aligned itself with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The Empire conquered Flax sometime prior to the destruction of the original Death Star, subsequently enslaving the Flakax and forcing them to mine the planet's resources as slave laborers.
Later in its history, Flax was among the planets of the Galactic Alliance that faced a potential overthrow by the Killik.
