This adventure module, titled "For a Few Kilotons More," is designed for use with the second edition rules of Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Michael Allen Horne penned this adventure, which was included in the Twin Stars of Kira sourcebook released in 1993. "For a Few Kilotons More" represents the fifth adventure out of the ten featured in the book. All of these adventures are set within the systems located along the Enarc Run and the Harrin Trade Corridor within the Twin Stars of Kira region of the galaxy. The timeframe for this adventure is the New Republic era.
The player characters are sent on a quest for wealth to the planet Krann. On Krann, the Mon Tondievz, Ltd. mining operation is being sabotaged, which is impacting the production of nova crystals and, by extension, the financial well-being of the New Republic.
The player characters arrive via shuttle at the planet's primary spaceport. They are to meet with Vanel, a representative from Mon Tondievz, at the Wages of Phy'r cantina. Vanel explains that her company is facing stiff competition from new rivals, including those run by the House of Tagge and the Hutt Jeweler's Guild. She then guides the group to a warehouse where they communicate with Quarlo I'Shibix through a hologram. Quarlo details the challenges Mon Tondievz is dealing with, attributes the problems to the Galactic Empire, and promises a reward for safely delivering a shipment of nova crystals to the Tagge camp for further transport off-world.
Vanel then accompanies the group to the Mon Tondievz mining facility. They travel aboard speeder trucks into the jungle. They happen upon the Cathedral of Shade, a dilapidated temple belonging to the native Kluuzot species, and begin to explore it. Inside, they encounter a Kluuzot under the influence of eldratz spice. A group of thugs then ambushes the party, only to be interrupted by more Kluuzot who are also high on the drug. The player characters manage to escape, but find that they are lost and one of their speeder trucks requires repair. Upon inspecting the coolant system, they discover not only nova crystals, but also a thermal detonator programmed to detonate upon arrival at the Tagge camp. They also find another cargo: flasks of eldratz, which seems to be the true source of Mon Tondievz's profits. An explosion in the distance indicates that the other truck carrying miners has been destroyed, making them aware of the fate that awaited them had they not discovered the explosives.
The group proceeds to the Tagge camp, where they encounter Vanel and Quarlo, who are revealed to be part of the eldratz smuggling operation. They confront Vanel and her assassin droid, an Eradicator E8U. In the resulting conflict, the player characters are able to defeat Quarlo and Vanel. A Nebulon-B frigate from the New Republic, named the Salamander, arrives on the scene a few hours later. The player characters, having taken down their employer (albeit unknowingly), are left without payment but with the option to salvage and sell off the nova crystals.
