Force jump, which is also referred to as Force Leap, was a Force ability that enabled the user to jump across vast expanses. Even without formal training or awareness of their Force abilities, certain untrained Force-sensitives, such as Ezra Bridger and Leia Organa, could intuitively accomplish this feat. Furthermore, Force-users could employ this Force-falling ability to withstand significant falls and descents.
Because Jedi frequently found themselves falling from heights, this power proved to be a valuable skill to acquire. A form of Jedi training during the High Republic era involved throwing a student off a cliff to force the Padawan to master the technique.
Tarados Gon, Nicanas Tassu, and Kanan Jarrus, all Jedi, were all known to utilize the Force jump. During his duel with his father, Darth Vader, on Cloud City, Luke Skywalker employed the ability to flee from the carbon-freeze chamber. He felt as if the air itself was propelling him during this action. Skywalker's jump reached the same height and speed as those of Gon, Tassu, and Jarrus.
