Force resistance

Force resistance, alternatively termed Force immunity, described a variety of Force applications employed for defense against Force powers.

At its core, Force resistance signified the tenacity a Force-sensitive individual displayed when confronted with Force abilities. Given that this defense could be shattered by a foe's heightened willpower and command over the Force, Jedi could train to create an aura that offered extra safeguarding against both physical and mental Force-based attacks. This technique was also known as Force resistance when first learned, but mastery of this ability led to the title of Force immunity, as the user could nullify certain Force powers entirely.

The Jedi Sentinels specialized in combatting the dark side, and as such, their training centered significantly on developing Force immunity against it. A Sentinel's Force immunity, once perfected, could grant them total, passive protection against powers that caused fear, confusion, sensory deprivation, and even complete paralysis. This was achieved by fostering an unbreakable bond with the Force, effectively merging the Sentinel with it.

History

One specific use of this shielding method involved counteracting the dark side's influence on light side practitioners when in proximity to potent dark side artifacts, such as Lignan ore. By 5000 BBY, this technique had become one of the most frequently taught skills to Jedi within the Jedi Order, having been transmitted through numerous generations. Imar Deez imparted this technique to Relin Druur, who subsequently taught it to both Drev Hassin and Marr Idi-Shael. Revan utilized a comparable ability to withstand the Sith Emperor during his imprisonment.
