Imar Deez was a member of the Jedi organization, living in a period that predates the Great Hyperspace War. During his time within the Jedi Order, Deez instructed the Human individual named Relin Druur in utilizing the Force to defend himself against the influence of the dark side. This skill was subsequently shared by Druur with other Force users.

Imar Deez, a being attuned to the Force, existed in the era before the Great Hyperspace War commenced, specifically around 5000 BBY. Being a part of the Jedi Order, Deez underwent training in the Jedi ways and imparted knowledge to the Human Jedi Relin Druur at some point before 5,000 BBY. As one of the first techniques that Druur acquired as a Jedi, Deez showed him how to employ the Force to shield himself from the effects of the dark side by visualizing an unbreachable fortress, where the walls were made of the Force and he was the keep within.
Druur eventually rose to the rank of Jedi Master, and he passed on the lesson that he had learned from Deez to his own Padawan, Drev Hassin. Later, after accidentally traveling through time to 41 ABY, Druur remembered learning the power from Deez as he taught it to the Cerean Marr Idi-Shael, so that Idi-Shael could resist the nauseating effects of Lignan, a powerful dark side ore.
The character of Imar Deez was initially mentioned briefly in Crosscurrent, the debut Star Wars novel by Paul S. Kemp, which was released on January 26, 2010. Given that Crosscurrent only states that Deez taught Druur the shielding technique, it remains unclear whether Druur was officially apprenticed to Deez.
