Fordee was a droid crafted by Mala Mala to serve as a companion, guardian, and mode of transportation. Equipped with a variety of blasters, Fordee was programmed to protect Mala at all costs, even to the point of self-sacrifice.
In the year 0 ABY, not long after the first Death Star was obliterated, Mala, Fordee, and Beesix (who had been inadvertently left behind at a spaceport) made their way to Centares. It was there that Darth Vader subjected the captured Rebel pilot, Thurlow Harris, to interrogation and torture within the confines of the former Museum of the Old Republic. Vader sought to extract information, and eventually, Harris revealed that Luke Skywalker was responsible for the destruction of the Death Star.
Upon hearing Skywalker's name, Vader was consumed by an intense rage. He commanded his stormtroopers to execute everyone who had overheard the name, including Brazzo, Selle, and Ban Papeega. Mala attempted to flee, but not before killing Thurlow. They were pursued through the adjacent woods until they were trapped at the edge of a promontory. Forced to leap for survival, they went down firing. Fordee was destroyed upon impact. Mala narrowly survived and was subsequently rescued by Beesix.
The character of Fordee was conceived by Star Wars artist Dave Gibbons for the first issue, Vader's Quest 1, of the Vader's Quest comic book series. The series was published in 1999 by Dark Horse Comics.
