Fort Garnik

Fort Garnik was a military installation of the Galactic Republic, situated on Ord Mantell's island of Avilatan during the Cold War time.

Serving as the primary base of operations for Republic military personnel stationed on Avilatan, Fort Garnik housed vital facilities. These included the central command hub, and a modest spaceport enabling access to space. Furthermore, it accommodated listening posts, armored transports, and air support detachments. The fort also featured a small marketplace, commercial establishments, and a cantina. During the Separatist War, refugee settlements grew up around the fort's perimeter.

During the period of the Mantellian Separatist Movement, Separatist forces frequently launched assaults. Persistent combat occurred in the vicinity of the base, as the Separatists attempted to expel the Republic from Avilatan.

Throughout the Cold War, various Republic and Mantellian military units were stationed at or operated temporarily from the fort. These units encompassed the 45th Infantry Division, Ord Mantell Infantry Command, Republic Corps of Engineers, Republic Special Forces Division's Havoc Squad, and the Thirty-first Recon.

Behind the scenes

Fort Garnik

The initial appearance of Fort Garnik was in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that BioWare launched on December 20, 2011. It serves as the principal location for Republic character classes on Ord Mantell. Access to the fort is limited to characters aligned with the Republic faction, as the planet remains inaccessible on the galactic map for Imperial character classes. The fort provides a number of quests for both the Trooper and Smuggler character classes.
