Forum:Battle articles and Exiles adventures

Hi everyone! I've been contemplating for a while now about what the best approach is for handling battle articles covering the events in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. Specifically, should we create separate articles for all the minor battles that the player, or rather, the Jedi Exile, experiences, especially those that aren't directly tied to the larger, more significant events? This question might also be relevant to the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game as well, although I haven't investigated that as thoroughly.

For instance, the current Skirmish aboard the Visionary article could potentially include the battles in Jekk'Jekk Tarr, Atton's confrontation with the Twin Suns, and the fight against the Zhug brothers in the Refugee Landing Pad (some of which is already included to some extent), even before addressing the main conflict on the ship.

The core of my inquiry is whether this approach is preferred, or if we should opt for separate articles dedicated to these smaller skirmishes. Are there any guidelines or principles we should adhere to when making these decisions?

  • Also, a thought just occurred to me that adds another layer of complexity: Should we have dedicated articles for blockades, such as the one on Taris during the Destruction of Taris and the one on Onderon during the Onderon Civil War? –Tm_T 13:58, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

  • In my opinion, it's better to have fewer, more comprehensive articles. Any relevant details about the context surrounding a battle should be integrated into the battle's main article, rather than being split into separate pages. OLIOSTER 14:18, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

  • I think it might be a bit much to put all the Nar Shaddaa conflicts into the Visionary article. For that specific case, maybe we could rename it to something more broad, like a "Mission" article. But something like the Khoonda one is a good example in that it has mention of the fight inside and out of the crystal cave. NAYAYEN 21:08, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

  • I don't think that every mission needs to be mentioned, but if so, put it, as needed, in the Prelude sections. For example, a brief rundown on the skirmish between the Zhug brothers that attacked the Exile's party might be worth mentioning before the Skirmish aboard the Visionary article. Thoughts? But something like Atton's brush with the Twin Suns? The battle with the Trandoshan's gang (can't remember his name) is worth mentioning, certainly, but it does not warrant its own article.—Jedi Kasra (comlink) 22:32, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

  • I tried to keep Skirmish aboard the Visionary article as brief as possible in the Prelude section, but to describe why things went as they went, what's there all that seemed to be necessary. I think this one particular kotor2 battle is the trickiest on this part, as it's a bit messy, and hard to explain without giving certain level of details. And, as they ended up being described reasonably there, I personally don't think those small fights needs their own articles necessarily. Bah, not an easy task to determine what should be in one article, and what exactly should be the name and subject of the article eventually... –Tm_T 22:13, November 28, 2010 (UTC)
