A venture to the moon Nar Shaddaa, initiated by a Human female named Meetra Surik, occurred in 3951 BBY. This event ignited a chain reaction of conflicts involving the local Exchange crime syndicate, the Hutt Vogga, and the Lost Jedi. G0-T0's endeavors, the elusive Exchange crime lord who held sway over the criminal and economic activities within the Y'Toub system at the core of Hutt Space, involved strategically undermining Vogga's operations for a time to bolster the infrastructure of the Galactic Republic. G0-T0's rationale was that the Hutts would ultimately bankrupt the Republic if the latter became reliant on them for resources. He also believed that keeping the Hutts preoccupied with him would mitigate this risk. Consequently, Vogga enlisted the services of bounty hunters to eliminate G0-T0.
During that same year, Surik, the former Jedi Knight also known as the Jedi Exile, journeyed to Nar Shaddaa. Her purpose was to locate a Jedi Master concealed on the moon and to uncover the origin of the bounty placed on her head by G0-T0 earlier that year. When Surik was ensnared by the Exchange, she, her allies, and G0-T0 were ambushed by bounty hunters. The now imprisoned Surik was transported to G0-T0's cloaked yacht, the Visionary, which was in orbit above Nar Shaddaa. Her companions managed to infiltrate the yacht, and, during their efforts to liberate the Jedi and escape from the starship, they inadvertently led G0-T0's adversaries directly to their location. In the ensuing conflict, Surik and her companions successfully escaped, while the Visionary was obliterated by several starfighters. The destruction of his yacht marked the end of G0-T0's extensive operations on Nar Shaddaa, resulting in the transfer of control over Hutt Space's crime-based economy from the Exchange back to the Hutts.

In the years of the Dark Wars, G0-T0, an Exchange crime lord, initiated a takeover of criminal enterprises within the Y'Toub system, situated at the heart of Hutt Space. G0-T0 embarked on activities aimed at bolstering the Galactic Republic and ensuring its infrastructure and resources were adequate. Following the destruction of its previous fuel source, the Republic's restoration project on Telos IV faced potential failure due to a fuel shortage. Consequently, the Republic sought to secure a new source from Vogga, a Hutt crime lord stationed on Nar Shaddaa, the city-encased moon of Nal Hutta. G0-T0 was convinced that such an arrangement would render the Republic reliant on the Hutts, who would exploit this dependence to bankrupt the Republic. He also believed that the failure of the restoration project would be a lesser evil than engaging in business with the Hutts. He resolved to thwart this deal by keeping the Hutts occupied with him instead. To achieve this, the Exchange leader began disrupting Vogga's business by abducting his transport ships. Vogga responded by hiring several bounty hunters, most notably the Wookiee Hanharr, to assassinate G0-T0. The Hutt also conspired with Visquis, G0-T0's Quarren second-in-command on the moon, to eliminate his superior and assume control of local Exchange operations. In 3951 BBY, after G0-T0 placed a bounty on Jedi, bounty hunters on the moon eagerly began searching for one.
When Meetra Surik, a Human female and former Jedi Knight known as the Jedi Exile, arrived in the Refugee Sector of the moon in search of Zez-Kai Ell, a Jedi Master in hiding, and to discover the source of the bounty on her head, G0-T0 instructed bounty hunters to leave her alone while she remained there. To gain the Exchange's attention, Surik and her companions disrupted the crime organization's activities on the moon, eventually leading to an invitation to meet Visquis in the Jekk'Jekk Tarr, an alien-only cantina filled with poisonous fumes. While the Quarren set a trap for the Exile with his invitation, bounty hunters began their attack on Surik and G0-T0.
As Surik was leaving her companions to meet Visquis, Atton Rand, one of her associates, decided to wait for her at the Refugee Landing Pad's cantina, and was soon attacked by two bounty hunters, the Twin Suns. After surviving the assault of the Twi'lek duo, Rand rushed to warn the rest of the Surik's companions on the landing pad of their starship, the Ebon Hawk, only to find them threatened by a group of the Zhug brothers, led by Azanti Zhug. As the situation escalated into a firefight, the Zhugs were killed, and Surik's companions realized the severity of the situation.

Before Surik reached the Jekk'Jekk Tarr to meet with Visquis, Mira, a young Human female and bounty hunter, intervened. The bounty hunter drugged the Jedi to prevent anyone from collecting the bounty and harming Surik, and placed her in a hidden compartment at a flophouse near the cantina. Then Mira left to attend the meeting in the depths of the cantina where Visquis maintained his base, disguised with Surik's environmental suit. When Mira reached Visquis's private den, she was captured and was used as extra bait to make sure that the Jedi would come after her. Meanwhile, Surik was awakened from her drugged state by Zez-Kai Ell, who told her of Mira's actions, and Surik immediately left in pursuit. As Mira had taken the suit that would have protected Surik from the poisons of the cantina, she was forced, with the help of her companion Kreia's guidance through the Force, to learn to control her breathing. Fighting through masses of thugs and other patrons of the Jekk'Jekk Tarr to rescue Mira from the hands of Visquis, she found her way from the den to Visquis's base behind the cantina. While the Jedi was entering the base, Mira had freed herself after incapacitating Hanharr in a duel and was on her way to help Surik's companions. Surik finally met Visquis in his base, who told her of his plans against G0-T0. When Visquis ordered his Ubese mercenaries to attack the Jedi, G0-T0 revealed through the base's speaker system that he wouldn't allow this to happen. Upon realizing that the Ubese had been working for his superior all along, the Quarren was struck down by the mercenaries. Surik remained captive to the Exchange, and she was taken aboard the crime lord's yacht, the Visionary.
To avoid becoming a target for his criminal rivals, G0-T0 relied on the concealment provided by his yacht's stygium cloaking device. After capturing Surik and imprisoning her on his ship, he informed the Jedi that she was to be prevented from interfering in events that could destabilize the galaxy. Simultaneously, two members of Surik's crew managed to board the vessel by altering the Ebon Hawk's identification to match one of Vogga's transports. Following their infiltration of the yacht and the discovery of Surik, the trio sought a means to disable the security systems that prevented their departure from the ship. They battled their way through G0-T0's droid army to the bridge, where they redirected all of the ship's power to the system controlling the ship's airlocks, thereby deactivating the countermeasure. With the cloaking device no longer providing protection, the Visionary was boarded by a number of bounty hunters and attacked by several starfighters supporting Vogga and the hunters in the space above Nar Shaddaa. Fighting through the bounty hunters on-board, Surik and her companions barely made it off the vessel before it was destroyed at the close of the battle.
The conflict's resolution led to instability in crime throughout Hutt Space, impacting its economy for years. With the Exchange in disarray, the refugees of the Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War who had been stranded on the smuggler's moon were given a chance to prosper and grow, according to Kreia's predictions. G0-T0, who managed to escape the destruction of his ship by boarding Surik's own vessel, joined the ex-Jedi in her further adventures in order to make sure she would not cause further damage to his stabilization plans. Vogga the Hutt, who still represented a powerful economic base, resumed shipping operations and established with the Telosian Council a trade of fuel between Sleheyron and Citadel Station, in accordance with a deal struck with Surik.
The Nar Shaddaa mission was presented as a quest and battle sequence during the player's exploration of the moon in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, a video game published by Obsidian Entertainment in late 2004. If the player chooses the dark side path, Hanharr warns the Jedi Exile of the trap and ultimately assists the Jedi against Visquis instead of Mira. In the cut content of the game, during the Exile's companions' attempt to rescue her from Visquis and G0-T0, numerous Zhug brothers were supposed to attack them on the Nar Shaddaa Docks before the companions had to fight their way through a nest of Gand bounty hunters.
