Peragus II, a planet located within the Peragus system of the Outer Rim Territories' Xappyh sector, served as a significant supplier of low-quality engine fuel. Originally a terrestrial world, Peragus II faced near annihilation centuries before 3959 BBY due to early miners' attempts to extract fuel. A mining mishap triggered a subterranean explosion, creating a massive rupture and an encircling asteroid field. By 3951 BBY, mercenaries and traders established the Peragus Mining Facility amidst the asteroid field. However, both the asteroid field and the station met their end when a stray shot during a battle between the light freighter Ebon Hawk and the Hammerhead-class cruiser Harbinger ignited the fuel, causing a catastrophic explosion. Following this devastation, no further mining operations were undertaken in the remnants of Peragus II.
Situated in the Xappyh sector of the Outer Rim Territories, Peragus II was a planet that orbited a star within the Peragus system. It lacked moons and possessed standard gravity, a 14 standard hour rotational period, and a 417 local day orbital period. Initially a terrestrial world, its crust contained volatile chemicals and substantial starship [fuel](/article/fuel-legends] reserves, yet it was devoid of life.
Before the Jedi Civil War by several centuries, an accident during mining activities triggered an explosion, tearing apart almost a quarter of the planet. This incident created a massive hole, exposing the molten core of Peragus II, and the ejected planetary fragments formed the Peragus asteroid field.
The region of the galaxy where Peragus II was situated saw extensive exploration between 5000 BBY and 3000 BBY. Centuries before 3959 BBY, a mining colony on Peragus II extracted fuel from the planet's crust. However, this colony was short-lived, as an accidental blaster shot ignited an explosion, ripping apart the crust and mantle and exposing the core, thus resulting in the formation of the Peragus asteroid field. For the centuries that followed, Peragus II was largely abandoned. Eventually, a group of traders and mercenaries established the Peragus Mining Facility within the asteroid field. To prevent further explosions, blaster technology was banned, so mining droids used underpowered lasers, and miners used sonic detonators and ion charges for self-defense. To ensure safe docking for freighters, astrogation charts were continuously updated and transmitted to navicomputers on inbound ships, reflecting asteroid drifts, while Peragus II itself was avoided.

By 3951 BBY, Peragus became the only exporter of fuel in the Xappyh sector and the surrounding region. Telos IV in the nearby Kwymar sector depended on this resource to maintain the orbit of Citadel Station, a space station that served as the primary base for the Telosian Restoration Project, a Galactic Republic-sponsored initiative to restore Telos after its bombing during the Jedi Civil War.
In 3951 BBY, the damaged light freighter Ebon Hawk arrived in the Peragus system, carrying Meetra Surik, a former Jedi; Kreia, a former Sith Lord; T3-M4, a utility droid; and an HK-50 series assassin droid. The Ebon Hawk had sustained damage during a battle with the Hammerhead-class cruiser Harbinger, which had been transporting Surik to Telos IV before Sith seeking to kill all remaining Jedi, attacked. Kreia rescued Surik before abandoning the Harbinger. After landing at the Peragus Mining Facility, the HK-50 droid posed as Surik's protocol droid and reprogrammed the facility's mining droids to kill the miners, causing chaos. Surik, Kreia, and Atton Rand destroyed HK-50, but before they could escape, the Harbinger arrived, pursuing Surik.
Kreia, Surik, and Rand evaded Darth Sion's forces and boarded the Ebon Hawk, but the Harbinger fired upon the fleeing freighter. A shot struck an asteroid, igniting the fuel and causing a chain reaction that destroyed most of the Peragus asteroid field. By the time of the Cold War between the Republic and the resurgent Sith Empire, Peragus II and its system were abandoned, though the destroyed fuel stations attracted scavengers.
Peragus II had no native life, although miners briefly settled there. After the initial accident, no further attempts were made to mine on the surface. However, prospectors established the Peragus Mining Facility in the asteroid field to extract fuel. Before its destruction, major imports included foodstuffs and technology, while its sole export was starship fuel. Due to its lack of population, Peragus lacked a planetary government.
Peragus II debuted in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, published by LucasArts on December 6, 2004. Peragus II and the mining facility were the setting for the game's first non-training level. While the player can explore the facility, they cannot explore the planet itself. The player can influence the plot regarding Peragus II, choosing to have the Ebon Hawk fire on the asteroids when chased by Darth Sion. This action destroys the asteroids and Peragus II, rather than allowing the Harbinger to do so.
