The Peragus asteroid field was a collection of asteroids rich in fuel. It came into existence following the initial, failed attempt to construct a mining base on Peragus II.
During the initial station's construction, while drilling for fuel, the mining team inadvertently discovered the extreme flammability and instability of Peragian fuel. The ensuing detonation fractured the surface of Peragus II, ejecting massive quantities of the planet's crust and upper mantle into space. As this ejected planetary material cooled, it formed the asteroid field, which remained in geosynchronous orbit above the original explosion site. Further mining operations ceased until the commencement of the Telosian Restoration Project on the neighboring planet Telos IV. This project required significant amounts of fuel to maintain Citadel Station in its orbit. Consequently, the Peragus Mining Facility was built within one of the field's largest asteroids, providing Citadel Station with mined resources until 3951 BBY.
The asteroid field's destruction occurred when the Ebon Hawk, a severely damaged freighter, executed an emergency landing at the Peragus Mining Facility. This starship carried the injured Jedi Exile, who was being actively hunted by Darth Sion. After recovering from their injuries and battling through hostile mining droids, the Exile and their allies boarded the Ebon Hawk and escaped the facility, closely pursued by Sion and the Harbinger. As the Ebon Hawk left the asteroid field and prepared to jump to hyperspace, the Harbinger fired upon one of the asteroids in a final effort to destroy the freighter. This shot caused an explosion that triggered a chain reaction, obliterating both the mining facility and the entire asteroid field.
One of the asteroids had the designation 32-19K.
