Frazznik

Frazznik was a Zabrak male, according to gender classifications, who resided on Taris, a world situated within the Outer Rim Territories, during the time of the Mandalorian Wars. Frazznik operated as a member of the Black Vulkars, a swoop gang based in the Lower City. He served under the Vulkar boss Benno, alongside his close friend and frequent partner, the large Drovian, Wargo. In 3964 BBY, Frazznik and Wargo were among the initial individuals to encounter the wanted outlaws Zayne Carrick and Marn Hierogryph within the Lower City. However, they were persuaded to release them after Hierogryph provided a false lead regarding a hidden stash of spice. This deception resulted in the two Vulkars being assaulted by a group of Wookiees. Following the Mandalorian siege of Taris, an early event in the Mandalorian Wars, Frazznik and Wargo deserted Taris and enlisted in the Mandalorian Neo-Crusader forces. The duo was deployed to a staging area on the icy planet Jebble, in preparation for a planned Mandalorian invasion of Alderaan. Ultimately, they met their deaths when an outbreak of the rakghoul plague decimated the Mandalorians stationed on Jebble.

Biography

Frazznik, identified as a male Zabrak, was affiliated with the infamous Black Vulkars swoop gang. This gang was a prominent force within the Lower City on the planet of Taris during the Mandalorian Wars period. By 3964 BBY, Frazznik was employed by the Vulkar leader Benno and was frequently seen in the company of his Drovian friend and fellow Vulkar, Wargo. In that year, the Padawan Massacre occurred at the Jedi Tower in the Upper City, with blame directed towards Padawan survivor Zayne Carrick and Snivvian criminal Marn Hierogryph, who then became highly sought-after fugitives. The pair sought refuge in the Lower City, where Frazznik and Wargo stumbled upon them as they attempted to escape justice. Initially, Frazznik targeted Carrick for a mugging due to his Upper City attire. However, Wargo recognized the two outsiders from their wanted holos, and the pair prepared to bring them to Benno to claim their substantial bounties. Nevertheless, Hierogryph exploited Frazznik's apprehension about Benno's potential anger regarding the Upper City bureaucracy involved in turning in the fugitives. He successfully convinced Frazznik to release them by promising a more lucrative opportunity.

Hierogryph directed Frazznik and Wargo towards a group of Wookiees operating a nearby trash cart, falsely claiming they had concealed stashes of illicit spice within their pack animal's harness. This was a complete fabrication by Hierogryph, but Frazznik and Wargo fell for the deception and attempted to steal the alleged spice. The shakedown proved disastrous for Frazznik and Wargo, as the Wookiees severely beat them, resulting in the loss of several teeth for Frazznik's Drovian companion. Shortly after this incident, the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders launched an invasion and besieged Taris as a key early offensive in their burgeoning war against the Galactic Republic. Unlike many swoop gangs on Taris, Frazznik and Wargo chose to align themselves with the Mandalorians rather than oppose them. They were subsequently dispatched to a staging area on the ice world of Jebble, along with numerous other new recruits from the Outer Rim. Thus, Frazznik became part of the rapidly expanding Mandalorian army, which aimed for greater conquests towards the galaxy's Core.

During their integration into the Mandalorian ranks, Frazznik and Wargo encountered two familiar figures: Carrick and Hierogryph, who had arrived on Jebble as stowaways aboard a Mandalorian ship originating from Taris. Wargo was assaulted by a Mandalorian Rally Master after attempting to attack Hierogryph. Subsequently, Frazznik and his friend learned the purpose of their presence on Jebble: to prepare for an assault on Alderaan, a peaceful Core planet and one of the Republic's prized worlds. However, this invasion never materialized, as the ancient Sith artifact known as the Muur Talisman—which had been transported to Jebble from Taris on the same ship as Carrick and Hierogryph—began to exert its dark influence on the Mandalorian world, transforming many warriors into the diseased mutants known as rakghouls. Frazznik and Wargo, familiar with rakghouls from their presence on Taris, attempted to rally their new comrades against the monsters. Nevertheless, they were unable to prevent the mutants from overwhelming the remaining uninfected Mandalorians. Shortly thereafter, Mandalorian strategist Cassus Fett devastated Jebble with a barrage of nuclear bombs.

Personality and traits

While Wargo provided the brawn, Frazznik, the comparatively slender Zabrak armed with a knife, was the talker. He often referred to targets like Zayne Carrick as "little cuss." Frazznik held considerable fear and respect for his boss, Benno, in the Black Vulkars, and was willing to forgo significant profits to avoid his displeasure. Despite being an active member of the Black Vulkars, Frazznik displayed no particular loyalty to the gang or the planet Taris, as he abandoned them to serve with the Mandalorians after their invasion. Frazznik had red skin, white horns on his head, and white eyes.

Behind the scenes

Frazznik's initial appearance was in Knights of the Old Republic 3, the third installment of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic comic book series, authored by John Jackson Miller and published in 2006. Frazznik later featured in two issues within the 2008 story arc titled Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: Vector. In his comic appearances, Frazznik was illustrated by Brian Ching and Scott Hepburn. According to Miller, Frazznik was originally intended to appear in one of The Adjudicator in-universe news items that were featured in several Knights of the Old Republic issues, but had to be cut for space.
