Third Fleet (Galactic Alliance)
The Third Fleet, a significant component of the Galactic Alliance Defense Fleet, served as a primary assembly of Alliance capital ships in the later stages of the Yuuzhan Vong War. Its origin can be traced back to the New Republic Third Battle Group.
History
Initially led by General Wedge Antilles, the Third Fleet was strategically positioned along the Alliance-controlled sections of the Hydian Way, and it entered the Battle of Yuuzhan'tar through the Shawken Spur during the conflict. After the war concluded and peace was established, the Third Fleet's operational area shifted to encompass other galactic sectors, allowing the newly established Fifth Fleet to take over patrol duties along the extensive Hydian Way. The fleet's base of operations was the General Crix Madine Military Reserve.
During the Second Galactic Civil War, the Third Fleet was tasked with enforcing the blockade of Corellia. At that time, it was under the direction of Admiral Makin. A specific task force within the Third Fleet participated in the Second Battle of Fondor.
