Supreme Chancellor election, 3645 BBY

In the year 3645 BBY, the governing body of the Republic, known as the Galactic Senate, gathered to choose a Supreme Chancellor who would serve as the head of their democratic system for a period of four years. Prior to this, in 3653 BBY, Senator Dorian Janarus representing Coruscant was chosen without opposition by the Senate to be the Supreme Chancellor, and he was re-elected in 3649 BBY. When his four-year term came to an end in 3645 BBY, the Senate opted to keep him in office. Similar to the prior election, the event was subdued due to concerns about potential assassinations by the Sith Empire.
