Paran Am-ris, a Cerean male, was a politician from that species who held the position of Supreme Chancellor within the Galactic Republic. Prior to this, he represented Cerea as a senator and was a signatory to the Treaty of Coruscant with the reconstituted Sith Empire on Alderaan.
Am-ris was part of a group of political figures that journeyed to Alderaan to engage with representatives from the Sith Empire to finalize a peace accord. Nevertheless, the Empire launched an attack on Coruscant, compelling Am-ris, who had become interim Supreme Chancellor after Berooken's passing, to concede to the Empire's stipulations.
Around the year 3653 BBY, the senator representing Cerea was among a group of politicians, accompanied by two Jedi, who traveled to Alderaan on behalf of the Galactic Republic to meet with representatives of the Sith Empire to establish a peace agreement. However, it became apparent that the Imperials had orchestrated this meeting as a cover for a clandestine assault on Coruscant, intending to force the Republic representatives to accept their terms. Subsequently, Chancellor Berooken contacted him, informing him of the Empire's attack on the planet and instructing him to halt negotiations. Regrettably, the Cerean witnessed Berooken's demise at the hands of the Sith. Darth Baras, who had been attacked by the Jedi Knight Satele Shan, informed the senator that the contract must be signed up at the conditions of the Empire while Coruscant was held hostage. Paran suggested to think about it since the participants were treated unfairly by this approach. Ultimately, the contract had to be signed to ensure the safety of Coruscant and its citizens.

Upon his return to Coruscant, Am-ris assumed the role of interim Supreme Chancellor following Berooken's death during the attack. Consequently, he observed the resignation of numerous system representatives due to the treaty's conditions, including Ambassador Mareesh of Rodia. Furthermore, Am-ris engaged in a discussion with Jedi Master Zym, who expressed concerns about the Republic's limited resources hindering the Jedi Temple's reconstruction. However, Zym and Commander Gin Lesl were reportedly killed in the aftermath of another bombing in the Senate. Am-ris received this news with growing apprehension and decided to contact a military base on Dantooine. The Republic discovered that Zym and Lisl were killed by the bounty hunter Braden who had apparently also carried out the attack on the Senate. Am-ris was furious and contacted Orgus Din to find Braden and bring him into custody for treason against the Republic. He was later replaced by Dorian Janarus during the same year.
