A male Kel Dor Jedi Master named Zym held the esteemed position of Grand Master within the Jedi Order. He dedicated his service to the Galactic Republic during the tumultuous era of the Great Galactic War.
As a Force-sensitive individual belonging to the Kel Dor species, Zym underwent rigorous training under the guidance of the Jedi Order, mastering the ways of the Force. He achieved the esteemed title of Jedi Master and constructed his own lightsaber that emitted a blue blade. His exceptional abilities earned him a seat on the Jedi High Council, and prior to the outbreak of the Great Galactic War, he was appointed to the position of Grand Master of the Jedi Order. When the Sith Empire launched its initial assault against the Republic, Zym spearheaded the Council's decision to stand in defense of the Galactic Senate against the Sith invaders.
As the war dramatically reached its peak with the Empire's proposition to sign a treaty, Zym advised Supreme Chancellor Berooken to remain on Coruscant while Republic and Jedi diplomats engaged in peace talks on Alderaan. During Zym's absence from Coruscant, the Sith Empire committed a treacherous act against the Republic and the Order by attacking the capital world, resulting in the killing of the Chancellor and the destruction of the Jedi Temple. With communication to the Senate severed, Zym and the diplomats on Alderaan remained unaware of the devastating events that had befallen the Republic's leaders. After establishing contact with Master Dar'Nala and Senator Paran Am-Ris on Alderaan, Zym recommended accepting the Sith's terms and having Jedi Knight Satele Shan apologize to Sith Lord Darth Baras for her assault on him. When Dar'Nala voiced her objections, Zym characterized her connection with her former Padawan as a potential threat.

Following the treaty's signing, Zym dispatched Dar'Nala and Shan to the Outer Rim Territories to oversee the withdrawal of Republic forces. Dar'Nala suspected that this was merely a scheme to remove the two Jedi from the picture. Upon Zym's return to Coruscant for a meeting with Senator Paran Am-Ris, he was informed that the reconstruction of the Jedi Temple was being postponed indefinitely due to a lack of funding. Zym relayed this information to a distressed Master Orgus Din, who had lost a Padawan in the destruction of the ancient structure. He then assigned Din the task of locating his other student, Fortris Gall, who was causing disturbances in the Outer Rim.
Orgus Din later reported a concerning matter to Zym: Master Dar'Nala and Satele Shan had been attacked by a Sith warship during a mission. Upon hearing this, many members of the Galactic Senate began clamoring for a resumption of hostilities. When Republic trooper Harron Tavus requested permission to rescue Dar'Nala, Zym deemed it futile, as they had intercepted an Imperial communication stating that Dar'Nala had been executed for aiding a prisoner in escaping.
Later, Zym received a message from an individual claiming to possess information regarding the attack on the Envoy and requesting a meeting at the ruins of the Jedi Temple. Upon arriving, Zym encountered Gin Lesl, the captain of the Envoy, but Braden, the prisoner Dar'Nala had assisted in escaping, fatally shot her for causing his injuries on Dantooine. Braden then informed Zym that he had a message from Dar'Nala, but Zym attempted to apprehend him for shooting the captain. Braden retaliated, killing Zym, thus squandering the Grand Master's opportunity to uncover Darth Baras's involvement in the attack on the Envoy. Zym's demise created a power vacuum within the Order, which was subsequently filled by his successor, Satele Shan, two years later.
