The species referred to as the Gand communicated using a language that shared their name. Norra Wexley identified the Synthesized Operating Layer, Grid-Based Drive Array IPU of the starship Ashmead's Lock as using this language while aboard the [prison](/article/prison] vessel located on the planet Kashyyyk.
