Gary Whitta is known as the initial screenwriter and title creator for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Subsequently, in 2015, Chris Weitz joined the project to finalize the screenplay.
Before this, Whitta held the position of editor-in-chief for both the British and American editions of PC Gamer Magazine. In the years leading up to the announcement that he would be penning one of the Star Wars anthology films, Whitta actively participated in discussions on the NeoGAF forums. He expressed critical opinions regarding the prequel trilogy and the 2011 Blu-ray alterations made to the original trilogy.
He also had a cameo in Rogue One as Gray Leader, though the scene was ultimately removed from the final cut.
