"Raymus" is the opening short story featured in the anthology titled From a Certain Point of View. Penned by Gary Whitta, the narrative explores the perspective of Captain Raymus Antilles. It effectively bridges the brief period between the final moments of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the initial scenes of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
Following their escape from the Battle of Scarif, the Tantive IV struggles to maintain lightspeed due to a malfunctioning hyperdrive. While the Empire relentlessly pursues the ship, Captain Raymus Antilles entrusts Princess Leia Organa with the datacard containing the plans for the original Death Star as they head towards Tatooine. Shortly after Raymus prepares the escape pods, the hyperdrive completely fails, causing the ship to drop out of hyperspace a mere quarter parsec from Tatooine. The Devastator, a Star Destroyer commanded by Darth Vader, detects the ship's unusual hyperspace trail and ensnares the Tantive IV with its tractor beam. As Imperial forces storm the ship, Raymus urges Princess Leia to flee after she hands the datacard to R2-D2. Leia declines, opting instead to assist others in escaping. Raymus is then apprehended by stormtroopers and brought before Darth Vader. When Raymus refuses to divulge any details regarding the Death Star plans, Darth Vader brutally murders him by telekinetically lifting him into the air and crushing his throat.
