Ghost cell

The ghost cell was a clandestine organization composed of highly skilled assassins and saboteurs. They were active throughout the Cold War years. Situated on Tatooine, the cell's primary function was the education of assassins, assisting individuals in honing their abilities before redeploying them into the galaxy. These operatives then worked covertly to execute their designated missions.

During the Cold War period, the intelligence community regarded their existence as merely a legend, a convenient myth used to explain inexplicable disasters. Neither Imperial Intelligence nor the Republic Strategic Information Service ever uncovered concrete evidence of the Ghost cell's reality. The persistent rumors of the organization, voiced by informants, were the sole basis for the legend. However, these informants invariably met untimely ends, preventing any thorough debriefing.

Throughout this period, the Ghost cell provided training that bolstered the Eagle's terrorist network. Furthermore, they established a mutually beneficial relationship with the Exchange, offering protection and assassination services in exchange for their assistance, centered around Milosh Varta. Following an attack on Darth Jadus, Imperial Intelligence tasked Cipher Nine with the destruction of the Eagle's network. This mission led the Cipher Agent to Tatooine, where the Ghost cell maintained a training facility to support their operatives.

The Ghost cell saw an opportunity to draw the Cipher Agent into a trap, aiming to replace Nine with a look-alike to penetrate Imperial Intelligence. To achieve this, their leader, known only as "the Old Man," intentionally allowed Mia Hawkins, a recruit disillusioned with the cell's practice of using civilians for target practice, to escape, anticipating her contact with Imperial Intelligence. The Ghost cell executed a two-pronged strategy, dispatching assassins to pursue Cipher Nine in Jundland while simultaneously analyzing the agent's operational methods. However, upon the agent's arrival at their base, Nine eliminated the Old Man, effectively bringing about the Ghost cell's demise.
