Gracca, a sapient being with wings, inhabited the Floating Mountain located on Endor's moon. In the early days of Bright Tree Village, an Ewok settlement on that moon, Gracca launched an invasion, pilfering the Ewoks' enchanted Crystal Cloak. This cloak bestowed upon its wearer the ability to transmute anything touched into crystal. With the cloak in his possession, Gracca retreated to his Floating Mountain sanctuary, where he spent years transforming the mountain's inhabitants into crystalline statues. Ultimately, a group of young Ewoks – Wicket Wystri Warrick, Latara, Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka, and Teebo – journeyed to Floating Mountain in an attempt to reclaim the cloak. They failed to recover it, but they destroyed the cloak, thus depriving Gracca of his magical abilities. Enraged, Gracca sought to eliminate the young Ewok children. Unfortunately, his attack went awry, sending him hurtling into a forest of towering crystals, which then collapsed upon him. Gracca found himself trapped beneath the crystals as the young Ewoks departed the mountain, carrying away some of its crystals.

As a winged male of an unidentified species, Gracca existed on Endor's moon for a number of years before 3 ABY. His home was the Floating Mountain, a mountain that floated above a lava lake. The mountain teemed with various creatures and species, and Gracca's ambition was to rule over the mountain and enslave its inhabitants. Eventually, he discovered the Ewoks of the forest moon, who possessed artifacts that would enable him to conquer the mountain. He infiltrated the Ewoks' Bright Tree Village and stole the Crystal Cloak, a garment that granted the wearer the power to turn anything they touched into crystal. Gracca then returned to the Floating Mountain and built a residence and a crystal throne from which to rule. After discovering the loss of the Crystal Cloak, the Ewoks created a scroll documenting the theft. Written in Ewokese, the scroll identified Gracca as the thief and prophesied that only a great warrior could defeat him and retrieve the cloak.

Unbeknownst to Gracca, Wicket Wystri Warrick and Latara, two Ewoks from Bright Tree Village, decided to recover the Crystal Cloak. Warrick sought to prove his warrior status, while Latara hoped to use the cloak's power to repair a broken crystal. In 3 ABY, they flew towards the Floating Mountain using hang gliders. A floating flower, one of Gracca's servants, spotted their approach and informed its master that two Ewoks were heading towards his lair. Gracca thanked his pet, but accidentally turned it into a crystal statue, a common occurrence with his pets. After adding the crystallized pet to his collection, Gracca flew out of his fortress and circled the Floating Mountain, searching for the Ewok intruders.
He spotted the two Ewoks climbing the mountain after eavesdropping on their conversation. In an attempt to eliminate them, Gracca blew a cloud of crystal seeds at them. As the Ewoks admired the crystals, the seeds took root and a forest of crystals sprouted from the ground. The Ewoks fled from the crystals, finding themselves trapped between the crystal forest and the lava below. They were saved from Gracca's trap by their friends, Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka and Teebo.

The four Ewoks, now safe, prepared to leave the Floating Mountain in their gliders, hoping to avoid further attacks. However, Gracca confronted them, demonstrating his power by turning an insect and a flower into crystal. Warrick charged with a stick, demanding the return of the Crystal Cloak. Gracca grabbed the stick and turned it into crystal. He then reached for Warrick, but Kintaka pulled the Ewok away at the last second. The Ewoks fled, and Gracca pursued them to the edge of the mountain. As Gracca circled them, Kintaka used her lasso to grab the Crystal Cloak, depriving him of his powers.
As the cloak drifted towards the lava pit, Gracca desperately tried to retrieve it. However, the cloak hit the lava and exploded, pushing him back towards the Ewoks. Enraged, he vowed revenge for the loss of his power. Gracca chased Warrick towards the crystal forest. As Gracca was about to reach Warrick, the Ewok jumped around a corner, and Gracca crashed headfirst into a large crop of crystals, becoming pinned as crystals fell around him. Gracca begged the Ewoks to free him, but they ignored him. Defeated, Gracca watched as the Ewoks left in their gliders, weighed down by crystals. With no one to free him, Gracca remained trapped under the rubble forever.

Gracca was an ambitious individual who desired to rule the Floating Mountain and eliminate any opposition. After obtaining the Crystal Cloak, he readily turned anyone who refused to serve him into crystal. He even transformed his servants, often accidentally turning his pets into crystal. While he lamented these losses, he did not feel overly guilty. When the Ewoks invaded his home to reclaim the Crystal Cloak, Gracca violently opposed them, attempting to turn the Ewok children into crystal.
Gracca possessed two large wings and an additional wing between his legs. He could fly around the Floating Mountain, launching himself into the air from a crouch. His large ears granted him exceptional hearing, allowing him to eavesdrop on distant conversations. Gracca had green skin, purple ears and wings, three green spikes on his scalp, and a green beard. His eyes were black, and he had three digits on his hands and feet, tipped with sharp yellow talons. An additional talon protruded from his heels. Gracca towered over the Ewoks, appearing to be twice the height of an Ewok child, around two meters tall.
Paul Dini created Gracca for the Ewoks television show. The character appeared in the season premiere of the second season, The Crystal Cloak, which aired on September 13, 1986. Gracca did not reappear in the cartoon, but he was later featured in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, which revealed his fate. While the spelling of Gracca's name is ambiguous in the episode, it is spelled "Gracca" in the Star Wars Insider 27 article, "A Star Wars CELibration." The Crystal Cloak refers to the character as "The Gracca," and the Star Wars Insider article calls him "the evil Gracca." However, The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia omits "the," referring to him as "Gracca." As the encyclopedia is the most recent source, this article assumes that "Gracca" is the correct name.
