Gramm Rile, a male Human, held the position of mayor in the town of Mos Taike on the desert world of Tatooine, situated in the Outer Rim. This occurred during the Galactic Civil War. After the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY, Mayor Rile became entangled in a series of difficult situations that his small town faced. These situations included securing a supply of water for the town's inhabitants and protecting the town from various dangers, such as Tusken Raider attacks and creature infestations. Through the aid of a spacer and the people of Mos Taike, Gramm Rile was able to overcome most of these issues.
Gramm Rile, a male Human, was married to Chastina Rile. Following the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY during the Galactic Civil War, Rile served as the mayor of a small, remote town located on the desert world of Tatooine in the Outer Rim. This town, called Mos Taike, was positioned between the Xelric Draw and the Northern Dune Sea, to the east of the significantly larger Mos Entha. Its location created certain challenges, as it was frequently targeted by various creatures and the brutal, native Tusken Raiders.
As mayor, Rile oversaw a town populated by a diverse group of people. D'Mayna Stallaphalat, a female Bith, managed the Third Sun Cantina, which also functioned as a medical facility. The town's population also included junk dealers, merchants, and adventurers. Rile was also in charge of the Mos Taike Militia, a force made up of citizens willing to defend their town from hostile entities. Lorne Prestar, the Chief of Security, was directly responsible for the militia and worked closely with Gramm Rile to ensure the town's safety.
Mos Taike was less technologically advanced than other settlements on Tatooine, despite having some conveniences like banking kiosks and a garage for vehicle repairs. Mos Taike lacked a shuttleport, making transportation to and from the town difficult. The isolated nature of Mos Taike made it difficult for Mayor Rile to protect the town. For example, the town's water supply was almost entirely dependent on a single person successfully delivering the resource. Rile found these and other challenges extremely frustrating.
His frustration with the constant Tusken Raider attacks led him to request that both Tour Aryon and Prefect Talmont establish an Imperial garrison nearby. They agreed to send a surveyor to assess the situation, but the surveyor never arrived. Fearing the surveyor was lost or worse, Rile asked an unknown spacer to find the surveyor and bring him to town. The spacer agreed and eventually located the exhausted, dehydrated surveyor. After the surveyor was brought back to town, shaken but alive, Rile quickly showed him around. Following some discussion, the surveyor agreed to send a report to Talmont recommending the establishment of an Imperial garrison.
Another problem, however, plagued Mos Taike. The town's primary water supplier had lost several caravans and wanted to recoup her losses by charging the town more. Rile requested the spacer who had previously helped him to locate a farmer named Merg Thando, who was willing to sell water at the standard price. The spacer, determined to help Mos Taike, agreed to find Merg and bring him to town. With Merg safely in town, Mos Taike could once again afford water.
Shortly after, Rile received some upsetting news. Prefect Talmont had decided that building a garrison for Mos Taike was not a worthwhile use of Imperial resources. Disappointed, but not giving up on his citizens, Rile decided to seek protection from Jabba's criminal empire. However, Mos Taike had little money and likely could not afford such services. Nevertheless, Rile sent the spacer to contact one of Jabba's business associates, hoping they would be willing to help for a low price.
The spacer located the business associate and brought him to Mos Taike to meet Gramm Rile. Rile sat down with the associate to explain their situation and negotiate a fair settlement. However, the talks quickly broke down when Rile became angry at the price of Jabba's "help": Mos Taike would have to send seven citizens each year to be Jabba's slaves. Rile refused, believing it was better to die free than live as a slave.
With no other options, Rile decided that they had no choice but to fight the Tuskens themselves, starting by ensuring everyone returned to town safely. Before he could continue, Rile was horrified to see his wife outside of town in a dangerous area. The spacer agreed to bring her back to town, while Rile made sure all other citizens were gathered together. As soon as Chastina was safely back in town, Rile learned from his security chief that a Tusken raid was approaching. With Rile and his citizens united, they prepared for a major battle against the Tusken attackers.
Rile thanked the spacer for their assistance, but understood that the spacer could not stay to help defend the town. However, due to the dedication of both the mayor and the spacer, enough citizens were gathered to successfully defeat the Tusken invasion.
Gramm Rile was one of the many non-player characters (NPCs) that existed within the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies before the game was shut down on December 15, 2011. Players had the option of undertaking four short quests for the mayor, which simply required them to escort or eliminate a certain number of NPCs.
