Gratz was a forge master of the Human male persuasion. He ran the Gratz Foundry, which was located in the city of Boneyard on the planet Nox. During the year 25,793 BBY, the darksiders known as Daegen Lok and Xesh managed to break free from their confinement on the moon named Bogan. They then traveled to the Gratz Foundry with the intention of building Forcesaber weaponry for their personal use. Upon their arrival, Lok employed a mind trick on Gratz, leading the forge master to falsely believe that a group of nashtah had infiltrated his foundry. Lok further manipulated Gratz into thinking that remaining silent would ensure his safety from the creatures. As Xesh made use of the foundry's resources, Gratz remained huddled on the floor, paralyzed by fear.
