GRZ-6B wrecker droid

The GRZ-6B demolition droid, also referred to as the GRZ-6B wrecker droid, was a droid specializing in demolition, engineered by Serv-O-Droid, Inc.. Similar to the EVS Construction Droid, its primary function was the dismantling and recycling of structures. However, it gained notoriety for its destructive methods, often generating substantial quantities of industrial byproducts like slag and debris.

Description

A typical GRZ-6B unit stood at a height of six meters, characterized by four powerful hydraulic arms and legs connected to a broad, box-shaped central body. The body was heavily armored with three layers of robust durasteel, providing protection against heat, impacts, and explosions encountered during demolition activities. The joints of the limbs were encased in flexible sleeves constructed from plasteel bands and a polymer coating.

To enhance stability, the droid's metallic feet were spread wide, sacrificing some agility. Movable plates on the hands, resembling those found on numerous species throughout the galaxy, enabled a GRZ-6B to grasp objects. These plates could also be magnetized for the purpose of collecting ferrous metals. An industrial-strength plasma torch integrated into the left palm and a laser cutter in the right palm facilitated the droid's ability to deconstruct complex structures, such as dilapidated buildings or wrecked vehicle.

The GRZ-6B's frontal aspect, or "face," was defined by an enormous crushing mechanism comprised of two ridged shearing plates. When forced together with maximum power, these plates could effortlessly pulverize even the sturdiest cables or the most resilient pieces of metal. Located behind the crushing mechanism was a sizable internal fusion furnace that occupied nearly the entire volume of the torso. Within this furnace, fragments of scrap metal were melted into alloys, which could then be extracted for recycling or disposal.

Instructions were inputted into a GRZ-6B through a rear access panel, allowing the unit to function with minimal supervision, although basic directional commands or emergency shutdown signals could be transmitted even from a handheld device.

Operational History

The GRZ-6B wrecker droids were first deployed in the final decades of the Old Republic. By the height of the Galactic Empire's reign, the GRZ-6B had ceased production for over thirty years, with most surviving units having been modified and repaired using improvised methods. However, their design, particularly the rear access panel, made them susceptible to malicious reprogramming.

At Hosk Station within the Kalarba system, the criminal Olag Greck employed a sabotaged GRZ-6B named Grozbok to create havoc in the surrounding area as part of his scheme to steal a shipment of ash-ore. However, the station's Unit Zed constable neutralized the droid by inserting a stun stick into the access panel, causing a rapid shutdown.
