Guzald, an elderly male Devaronian, once endured enslavement under the Galactic Empire. Following his liberation by Saadoon-Kauldi, a crime lord of the Kadri'Ra, Guzald willingly became Kauldi's dedicated translator.
Guzald, of the Devaronian species, was once a slave of the Galactic Empire, assigned to labor on a garbage scow along with countless others. As a consequence of his captivity, Guzald was compelled to master the difficult language of the Kadri'Ra species, in addition to numerous other tongues. Having aged significantly, the youthful energy and fervor typically seen in Devaronians had waned in him.
Ultimately, Saadoon-Kauldi, a Kadri'Ra crime lord and former slave himself who had launched a crusade against slavery, freed Guzald and his fellow captives. Many of those liberated by Saadoon-Kauldi pledged their allegiance to him, Guzald among them.
Guzald regarded Saadoon-Kauldi as the closest figure he had to a king, and thus remained at his side. Although Guzald had a family during this time, they were all Imperial slaves, and he had no contact with them.
As fate would have it, Saadoon-Kauldi decided to abstain from speaking Galactic Basic Standard as a form of protest against the Empire. This presented Guzald with the opportunity to become his personal translator, a role he embraced with pride and unwavering loyalty.
