GWC-04 functioned as a member of the Droid Army belonging to the Trade Federation. This occurred during the colonization of the moon called Alaris Prime, a period that spanned from 39 BBY to 36 BBY. GWC-04 commanded a troop center at an outpost responsible for the production of B1-series battle droids. Acting on counsel from Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, Wookiee colonists under the leadership of Chewbacca attacked the outpost due to its strategic value in their effort to drive the Federation from Alaris Prime. The five battle droids that GWC-04 oversaw were unable to defend the outpost, resulting in their destruction along with the troop center.
The LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, released in 2001, initially referenced GWC-04. He was presented as the commanding officer of the Trade Federation forces in the fifth mission, "Exploration and Transport," of the Wookiee tutorial campaign.
