A hawk-bat, sometimes written as hawkbat, was a kind of bat characterized by its beak, which featured defined, sharp edges. The beak of a hawk-bat was reminiscent of the nose of Wilhuff Tarkin, a male human with a bony structure. The name of this creature was adopted by the Jedi youngling clan that Dooku was a member of. Furthermore, the species' designation served as an insulting label for a person deemed undesirable.
