Heat shield

A heat shield served as an armor upgrade, providing enhanced protection from flames. Successive iterations, namely the Mark I, II, III, and IV, significantly amplified this defensive capability. Frequently observed on probe droid drop pods throughout the apex of the Galactic Empire, heat shields also found application during Operation Death-Hunter, where they were attached to altered Tech 4 PDVs. These specialized crafts, purposed for transporting Death-Hunter Cyborgs, utilized the shields to ensure survivable crash landings on planets designated for cyborg deployment. The Incom Corporation's Y-4 Transport incorporated a heat shield measuring one-meter in thickness, alongside multiple layers of sprayable ablative material, to effectively manage the thermal stresses experienced during planetfall procedures.
