Missile Destroyer (Galactic Empire)
Aquatic repulsorcraft known as Missile Destroyers served within the aquatic navy of the Galactic Empire, functioning as their primary anti-aircraft defense. Additional armor and weaponry could be added to enhance their capabilities.
History
These vessels commonly guarded the waters surrounding Imperial facilities. They were often paired with Imperial scout frigates, which acted as escorts, providing a defensive screen against unexpected assaults by Rebel starfighters or attacks from pirates.
During the Reytha campaign in 0 ABY, Darth Vader deployed Missile Destroyers as part of his forces.
Behind the scenes
The video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, released in 2001, and its 2002 expansion, Clone Campaigns, feature Missile Destroyers. Players can construct them in the Galactic Empire campaign or in multiplayer mode.
