B2-HA super battle droid

The B2-HA super battle droid, alternatively referred to as the heavy assault super battle droid, represented a modified version of the B2 super battle droid. This modification included a cannon arm capable of launching either a warhead or a homing torpedo. During the Clone Wars, these battle droids saw deployment by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and were sometimes assigned duties as field officers. One such super battle droid took command of B1 battle droids on Rodia.

Characteristics

The B2-HA series super battle droid was designed with a cannon arm capable of firing either a homing torpedo or other ordinance. A distinguishing feature was a yellow marking located on its left shoulder. In direct combat, it presented a significantly greater threat compared to standard models, possessing the capability to generate substantial explosions with its integrated cannon. Given their limited capacity as effective commanders, their roles were typically confined to leading smaller droid squads or guarding strategically important locations on the battlefield. The B2-HA series also incorporated heat exchangers situated on their backs.

History

During the First Battle of Geonosis, which took place in 22 BBY, a B2-HA unit was actively involved in combat. It disregarded its own troops to target a Republic All Terrain Tactical Enforcer with its cannon. Clone trooper CT-1226 strategically aimed for its heat exchangers, resulting in the launched missile striking a Hailfire Droid. Subsequently, CT-1226 employed an Electromagnetic pulse grenade to disable the B2 before destroying the droid with his blaster.

Throughout the Hunt for the Decimator during the year 22 BBY, heavy super battle droids saw widespread use.

Early in the Clone Wars conflict, a B2-HA series super battle droid was integrated into the battalion of forces commanded by a Dark Acolyte and assassin of Count Dooku, namely Asajj Ventress. As Supreme Leader of these forces, Ventress deployed the Separatist droid forces on the moon of Rugosa. During the ensuing battle, this particular droid met its end at the hands of Jedi Master Yoda.

Soon after this engagement, another super battle droid of this type was utilized aboard the Malevolence. An OOM command battle droid issued an order for the battle droid to target and obliterate a rail jet with its cannon arm, narrowly missing Padmé Amidala in the process.

On Rodia, another super battle droid took charge of droid forces stationed within the Senatorial Palace. This droid launched a homing torpedo in an attempt to eliminate Jar Jar Binks, mistakenly identifying him as a Jedi. Ultimately, this droid, along with its accompanying troops, was destroyed by the Kwazel Maw, known as "Bogey." During the transport of Nute Gunray aboard the Venator-class Star Destroyer, Tranquility, a B2-HA series super battle droid participated in a Separatist boarding action. Emerging from a Droch-class boarding ship alongside B2 super battle droids, it utilized its cannon arm to clear a path through Republic defenses within the Tranquility's hangar.

A B2-HA series super battle droid held a commanding position within Nashtah Team during Cad Bane's attack on the Republic outpost located on the planet Devaron. Under the direction of Bounty hunter Aurra Sing, the droid played a role in preparing an ambush against the outpost. However, Republic forces managed to breach a nearby dam, resulting in the flooding of the invading force.

An advanced variant designated as the B2 Assault was deployed during the Third battle of Felucia.

At least three B2-HA series super battle droids were present during the CIS occupation of Onderon. One was involved in a minor skirmish between CIS droids and Onderon rebels outside the capital city of Iziz, while the other two engaged the same rebel group during their infiltration of Iziz in an attempt to liberate it. Ultimately, all three droids were destroyed by the rebels. Onderon was eventually liberated from Separatist control, and General Kalani, who had led CIS forces on the planet, received orders from Count Dooku to salvage remaining arms, withdraw the army and relocate them to the agriworld Agamar.

Behind the scenes

The real-time strategy video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns, which allows players to experience the Clone Wars through the perspective of the CIS, includes a B2 variant known as the "heavy super battle droid." This variant features pink markings and is equipped with a heavy cannon mounted on its right arm, rather than the left.
