Hekula, a Dug of male gender, was the offspring of the well-known podracer pilot, Sebulba. In a move mirroring his father's career, Hekula came into possession of Anakin Skywalker's Podracer after Sebulba bought it from Qui-Gon Jinn.
During the Galactic Games that occurred in 26 BBY, Hekula participated in an unsanctioned podrace against Anakin Skywalker at the Great Dordon Caves on the planet Euceron. He ended up crashing the podracer by attaching it to a different pod and then getting out. As a consequence, his father permanently banned him from racing.
The family's podracing legacy was continued by Hekula's son, named Pugwis.
