The Great Dordon Caves existed on the planet of Euceron. These caves were situated on the northern edge of the planetary capital, Eusebus.

During the Galactic Games of 26 BBY, the events and activities at the Caves proved to be a popular draw. The illegal podrace that occurred there on that occasion reached a new level of illegality, with the revelation that Games Council members, who had manipulated key events in the official games, were also involved in rigging this race. Their method of fixing the race involved a novel approach: transmitting track information for upcoming sections of the course to each podracer's nav computer every three minutes. Initially, the Jedi, present to maintain order at the Games, suspected that Sebulba's son Hekula (a Dug) was receiving this information prematurely, courtesy of Maxo Vista, a well-known local athlete and corrupt Games Council member, thus giving Hekula an unfair advantage. However, it was later discovered that the advanced information was actually being sent to the pod of Deland Tyerell, who, along with his younger brother-mechanic Doby Tyerell, had conspired with Vista in a desperate attempt to liberate their sister-slave, Djulla. Unbeknownst to the brothers, Vista had secretly planned to sabotage their pod, despite their agreement.
Anakin Skywalker—who had not officially raced since he was nine years old, five and a half years prior—traveled to the Caves to assist Deland and his brother in freeing their sister by taking Deland's place in the race (since Sebulba had broken Deland's arm before the race). Anakin not only overcame Vista's sabotage of Deland's pod but also outmaneuvered Hekula, the favored son of Sebulba, his old nemesis from Tatooine and Djulla's owner. Anakin emerged victorious, securing Djulla's freedom.

Among the other participants in the Great Gordon Caves Podrace were former Boonta Eve Classic competitors Aldar Beedo, Elan Mak (also known as Kam Nale), Ody Mandrell, and Gasgano (the runner-up in the Boonta of 32 BBY). Additionally, there was "Scorch" Zanales, the Daimlo favorite of the Gamorreans who spoke Huttese, and Will Neluenf, the heir to Ben Neluenf, the first great Tatooine podracer. Ratts Tyerell, who had tragically died in a collision during the Boonta 32 race, was not present, but his spirit lived on through his three Aleena children and his Titan 2150 Podracer, which was prepared for the race in Aldar Beedo's pit.
Prior to the race, Beedo had witnessed a skirmish between Sebulba and the Tyerell children, with Skywalker caught in the middle. Annoyed and losing focus, Beedo intervened, threatening everyone with a blaster, which helped to break up the altercation.
However, during the pre-race scuffle between the Tyerell brothers and Sebulba and his son, when Djulla Tyerell attempted to intervene, the fight escalated, resulting in Sebulba breaking Deland's arm. Skywalker partially defeated the Dug using his Jedi abilities, and Doby Tyerell warned that Beedo might face a similar defeat. The Glymphid remained completely unfazed by the threat. No longer concerned with this "family matter," Beedo left the group to prepare for the race.
At the start of the race, Skywalker and Hekula quickly took the lead. Beedo closely followed Mandrell, with Mak trailing behind, but Mandrell failed to navigate the next turn and crashed. Mak surged ahead, narrowly avoiding the wreckage of the Er'Kit's pod, and seized the opportunity to eliminate Beedo, the murderer of his father, the crime lord Borzu Nale. Mak swerved in front of Beedo, attempting to cut him off, successfully smashing Beedo into the ground, but forcing the other racers to avoid the collision. The Fluggrian's success was limited, as his pod was also caught in the crash. Both racers, crawling from the wreckage and rushing to the sidelines to escape the danger of the track, began to accuse and blame each other for the accident. Gasgano, the Xexto, also became entangled with Zanales, who had been closely following Skywalker, resulting in both racers crashing their pods. Will Neluenf's pod trailed closely behind Hekula's, but he was unable to overtake either him or Skywalker when the Jedi's pod began spinning wildly out of control just before reaching the finish line. Although Neluenf failed to pass either contestant, he still managed to secure third place.
Ultimately, Skywalker, using the Force to regain control of his sabotaged pod, won the race on behalf of the Tyerell children, while Sebulba's son, Hekula, finished in second place.
