The Daimlos were a sentient species of humanoids indigenous to the planet Daimla, which is located within the Outer Rim Territories. Notable for their stocky build and short stature, they possessed large heads adorned with horns and skullplates. A prominent Daimlo, "Scorch" Zanales, gained recognition as a Podracing competitor during the latter years of the Galactic Republic, distinguishing himself in the sport.
These humanoid beings, known as Daimlos, were characterized by their substantial build, compact size, and oversized heads. The head of a Daimlo was heavily armored, featuring a pair of green-gray horns, a muzzle containing two rows of teeth, and a set of red eyes.
Their gray-skinned bodies were relatively short and thickset, supported by two reverse-jointed legs that ended in four-toed, hoof-like feet. They also had two arms that terminated in hands with four fingers. Furthermore, Daimlos were known to possess tails.
On Daimla, the Daimlos had a coming-of-age ritual that spanned a year, where individuals would use their skullplate and horns to render their opponents unconscious. While the primary language spoken by the Daimlos was Daimli, at least one Daimlo, Zanales, demonstrated proficiency in Huttese. He was often seen wearing clothes that included a purple breastplate, tan sleeves, red ankle wraps, and long, black fringes around the waist.

The Daimlos originated on the temperate planet of Daimla, which can be found in the Kallea sector within the Outer Rim Territories. Zanales, also known as "Scorch," was a Daimlo male who achieved heroic status on his homeworld of Daimla after emerging victorious in his species' coming-of-age ritual, defeating all of his peers. This accomplishment propelled Zanales into a successful career as a professional Podracing driver during the final years of the Galactic Republic.
In 27 BBY, the Daimlo Zanales participated in the Galactic Games Podracing event, which took place on the Mid Rim planet of Euceron. Later, in 24 BBY, he competed in the Hutt Championships, a Podracing competition spanning the Outer Rim Territories. Zanales became a popular figure among the spectators, as he enjoyed putting on a show. His flamboyant and unpredictable style, combined with his knack for overpowering opponents (a skill honed during his homeworld's rituals), made him a favorite.
By 24 BBY, Daimlo Engineering had developed the Banshee-11 Podracer model, which Zanales piloted during the Hutt Championships.

The Daimlo species made its debut in the 2002 video game Star Wars: Racer Revenge, developed by LucasArts. Their name was first revealed in the strategy guide that accompanied the game, authored by Mario De Govia and Damien Waples. Early concept art for Racer Revenge depicted the species with brown fur, bright-purple eyes, and a slightly different physique, featuring longer legs and a less pronounced muzzle. The 2008 reference book The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia incorrectly listed the singular form of the species as "Daimlos."
