Daimla

Daimla was a terrestrial world situated within the Daimla system. This system resided within the Kallea sector of the Outer Rim Territories'. It served as the homeworld for the sentient Daimlo species.

During their youth, Daimlos went through a year-long coming-of-age tradition. This tradition involved using their newly developed skullplates and horns to knock each other out. One Daimlo, Zanales, surpassed all others in one such competition, earning him heroic status on his planet. By 27 BBY, Zanales had transitioned into an off-world Podracer pilot.

Behind the scenes

An indirect reference to Daimla appeared in the 2016 StarWars.com article "Start Your Engines: Star Wars Podracer Drivers, Part 2," penned by Kevin Beentjes. The Online Companion for The Essential Atlas (2009) on StarWars.com placed the Daimla system, and consequently Daimla itself, within grid square K-21.

Jason Fry, a co-author of The Essential Atlas, has indicated that the star systems detailed in the book's Appendix, and similarly in its Online Companion, are named after the most significant planets or celestial objects found within those systems. Consequently, this article posits that the Daimlo's homeworld shares its name with the Daimla system.
