High Flight Beta Squadron was a group of starfighter pilots, specifically a squadron, that fought for the New Republic Defense Fleet during the Battle of Adumar.
While the New Republic was successfully integrating Adumar and then defending the planet from an invading Imperial fleet, High Flight Beta Squadron operated under the command of General Wedge Antilles, providing protection to Remember Derra and Solar Wind Squadrons as well as the Adumari Blade units as they engaged the Imperial Star Destroyer named the Agonizer. The arrival of Imperial forces was initially reported by High Flight Three Beta, signaling the beginning of the Battle of Adumar. Their base of operations was on the Allegiance.
High Flight Beta Squadron's purpose was to gather intelligence and perform reconnaissance. The insignia of the unit depicted a lone T-65 X-wing starfighter, which was their preferred aircraft, soaring above a mountain summit.
The novel X-Wing: Starfighters of Adumar, written by Aaron Allston, features High Flight Beta Squadron. Furthermore, they are mentioned in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, a reference book published in 2008.
