Hod Ha'ran was a god within the old Mandalorian religion. This deity, known to the ancient Mandalorian race as a trickster, was seen as representing the unpredictable whims of fate.
As time went on, the devotion to Hod Ha'ran, along with other Mandalorian deities such as Kad Ha'rangir the Destroyer and Arasuum, the god of sloth, decreased. The Mandalorians, for a period, shifted their focus to solely worshipping war, before abandoning those beliefs over the centuries. Even so, Hod Ha'ran and the other Mandalorian gods were not entirely erased from memory: many years afterwards, Death Watch's creator, Tor Vizsla, mentioned Hod Ha'ran and the old gods within a document he created, and by 19 BBY, the Mandalorian warrior Kal Skirata was aware of their previous significance within Mandalorian myths.
Hod Ha'ran's initial appearance in Star Wars canon, presently within the Legends storyline, occurred within The Bounty Hunter Code: From the Files of Boba Fett, a reference book focused on bounty hunters. This book, written together by Daniel Wallace, Jason Fry, and Ryder Windham, was made available on October 15, 2013.
