The Alliance of Free Planets leadership utilized holographic piloting exams as a way to assess a pilot's aptitude for flight and their ability to resolve issues effectively in combat situations. These tests involved a pre-set scenario projected from the pilot's flight computer using a holoprojector. A notable instance of this occurred during the Nagai–Tof War, when Mon Calamari Admiral Ackbar oversaw one such exam. Participants included Mandalorian Fenn Shysa and the renowned General Han Solo, along with numerous other Alliance pilots. General Solo considered the exam to be beneath his abilities, expressing his opinion that a pilot's true worth was demonstrated through real-world flight experience, rather than engaging in what he perceived as a mere "game."
