The Houk and Weequay species engaged in numerous wars against each other. Certain Weequay combatants employed beastmaster's vibro-glaives in the conflicts' hand-to-hand fighting, given that these weapons possessed the capability to pierce the Houks' more resilient hide.
The initial reference to the conflicts between the two groups appeared in Gadgets and Gear, a Star Wars canon supplement for the Star Wars Roleplaying game. Fantasy Flight Games released this roleplaying resource in 2019.
